Manuel Trejo - Washington

Manuel Trejo – Washington

Washington High School’s Manuel Trejo has played basketball since his seventh grade year. His decision to play was also influenced by the fact that his school did not have a soccer team, so basketball became his way of competing for the Warriors.

Trejo is now a senior and can look back and say he has enjoyed his years on the court with his teammates. His favorite thing about getting to compete for his high school has been, in his words, “being able to be a part of my school’s legacy.”

Trejo is always striving for the best, saying that even a good practice or game can always be better. His main objective in his goal to be his best on the court is to work hard in practice and play hard outside of it.

“On the court, practice like there is no tomorrow,” he said. But off the court? “NBA 2k.”

Trejo looks up to Denver Nuggets point guard Isaiah Thomas as a role model for work ethic on and off the basketball court. When asked what lesson he has learned from Isaiah Thomas, Trejo answered, “heart over height.”

In addition to basketball, Trejo has also been involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) during his time at Washington High. After graduation he looks forward to continuing his education in college.
