Britton Sperry – Plainview

Britton Sperry is a senior at Plainview High and a utility player for the Indians baseball team. With his older sister traveling all over for softball and tennis and he himself playing baseball since he was three, sports were a part of his life from a young age.

Sperry has enjoyed getting to compete for his school over the years, especially because he has grown up with many of his teammates.

“I enjoy putting on the uniform and competing with my team,” he said. “Most of the guys and I played little league together and now we get to go out and compete for our high school – it’s something I will never forget.”

It is this close bond Sperry has with his teammates that helps push him to work hard on the field.

“My team motivates me to play my best,” he said. “You never want to let your teammates down in big-time situations. You always want to come through for your guys.”

Sperry has enjoyed a successful final season with Plainview High and is hoping to end it on an even better note.

“This season has been a complete turn around season for us,” he said. “As a whole, last year we only won 14 baseball games all year, now we are headed into the playoffs with 22 wins and are hoping to add more.”

There is one person who has had a major impact in Sperry’s life. He credits his mother with being his biggest supporter and role model over the years.

“I would have to say my mom is my biggest role model,” he said. “She introduced me to sports and has been a great role model for me to look to along the way.”

In addition to playing baseball, Sperry is a member of the varsity football team at Plainview as well as a member of the National Honors Society. After graduation he plans to continue his baseball career on a higher level as he attends college and majors in business administration.
