Rush Springs’ Bailey Ann Beard – FCA All-State Spotlight Presented by Coaches Corner

Rush Springs varsity softball player Bailey Beard helped her fastpitch team to the Regional tournament this season after going 16-11 during regular season play. They grabbed big wins over Frederick, Fletcher, Big Pasture, Alex and others. Head coach Wes Bryson led Rush Springs past the district tournament against Wayne before falling to Woodland and Empire in regionals. Beard said she loves the support the team receives from the community and their classmates.

“I love being a student-athlete at Rush Springs because of the amazing support from theschool and community,” said Beard.

Beard strives to be a good teammate and to help her team improve and win games.

“Being a good teammate means you are a great encourager. Your team can always count on you and they know that you’ll show up to compete everyday,” said Beard.

It is no surprise Beard is that type of teammate. She is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was recently honored for her involvement with the program.

“FCA has given me the opportunity to get involved in many things and meet new people.

Most importantly I get the chance to lead my classmates to Christ,” said Beard.

Her brother has been a big influence on her, on and off the field.

“A big influence in and out of athletics would have to be my brother Colt. He was an All-Stater in football and played college baseball. He has shown me what it means to a

leader and a great teammate. He will always be someone I look up to and strive to be like,” said Beard.

She is also a member of National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society and the Science Club at Rush Springs High School. Academics have always played an important role for Beard. Her efforts in the classroom always came first.

Her future plans include continuing her softball career and pursuing a degree.

“I plan to go play softball at Southeastern Oklahoma State University,” said Beard.

In her free time, Beard enjoys going to the lake and hanging out with her friends.
