Chickasha’s Nic Harris – Athlete of the Month Presented by Bank of Commerce

Nic Harris is a dedicated baseball player who recently graduated from Chickasha High School. He has been playing baseball for fourteen years, starting at the young age of four years old. He played second base and is Chickasha Athlete of the Month because of his hard work and the encouragement he gave to his former teammates.

Harris first became inspired to pick up baseball from his family. Harris says that it is his friends and his family who always keeps him motivated to do his best both on and off the field. They have always been there for Harris to pick him up on days he is down.

“My great grandpa and grandpa were both big baseball players and so I just wanted to follow in their steps and make them proud,” he said.

Harris graduated in the spring of 2019 and said due to an injury to his Labrum and Rotator Cuff, he was unable to play as much as he would have liked to have played during his last season of high school baseball. However, he says he still got to enjoy getting to cheer on his teammates at very game and helped out as much as he could. He did not let his injuries stop him from still being a part of the team he loves and supporting them throughout the season. These relationships are one of his favorite things about his time as a Fightin’ Chick athlete.

“I have enjoyed meeting a lot of my friends from baseball and I love that I have been able to represent my town and school while playing baseball,” he said.

Harris has some advice to those who will continue to compete for Chickasha on the diamond.

“I would say to enjoy every moment that you got during baseball,” he said. “It seems like it ends so quickly. Just enjoy it!”

Since his graduation, Harris plans on attending Oklahoma University to double major in Business and Health and Exercise Science.
