Chickasha’s Kaden Stephenson – Athlete of the Month Presented by First National Bank & Trust

Varsity football player Kaden Stephenson is eager to kick the 2019 season off with his teammates at Chickasha High School. His passion for the game and his teammates is infectious.

“I love the intensity and school pride of the coaching staff. They are Fightin’ Chicks through and through! They work so hard to get us ready for those Friday night games. All of them spend countless hours at the field house analyzing film and getting a game plan ready so that we can put it into action,” said Stephenson. “My teammates, what can I say, we have a great bunch of guys that have come out this year. We are one big family with the same end goal, to win on Friday nights!”

Stephenson is one of several players who lead by example.

“To me being a good teammate is putting the needs of the team first and putting my personal needs second. Being a leader is extremely difficult. You must be very vocal and boost the confidence of the other players around you. You can’t take one play off and must carry the same burning desire to win every play to take on the role of leader,” said Stephenson.

This season, Stephenson and the team have set lofty goals as a team and for themselves.

“My personal goals for the season are to gain knowledge from the coaches and my teammates. I’d also like to have at least 10 receiving touchdowns and five interceptions for the season. As far as team goals, I would like to improve on our record from last season. Being so close to making the playoffs has made that a top priority for the team. Growing closer and building bonds as the season goes on is always important,” said Stephenson.

Also a baseball player, Stephenson is a regular participant in the FCA chapter at school and he plans to further his education once he graduates. But first he wants to bring a season to remember to the Chickasha fans.

“The fans can expect a lot of excitement at the games this year. A lot of long balls and hard hits. With the improvements being made in the off season, we will be an overall threat on both sides of the ball. A team who can do everything with authority,” said Stephenson.

When he’s not focused on football or school work you can usually find him spending time with friends and family, fishing and riding four-wheelers.

“I also enjoy being around animals and helping out on the family ranch.”
