OFFENSE

Lone Grove returns 19 starters on both sides of the ball this season, a big number for head coach Brad O’Steen. The offensive line could be the strength of the team heading into the start of the season and offensive coordinator Curtis Cole is excited to see his big guys back in the lineup. He’s also looking forward to quarterback Colton Jones (6-1, 182, Sr.) leading this football team. Jones brings consistency to the lineup. Another returning starter is Blayde Wilkerson (5-10, 175, So.) at wide receiver. Wilkerson had an excellent freshman campaign and has caught the eye of the coaching staff. Wilkerson is a coachable kid with tremendous potential. Cooper Robinson (5-10, 168. Jr.) is the running back in the spread offense. Robinson may be the go-to guy, but also look for J.J. Barnes (5-11, 173, Sr.) when they go to a two-back set. Barnes is capable of big plays. The offensive line features Juan Martinez (5-10, 270, Sr.) at center, Mark French (6-2, 232, Sr.) at tackle and Braiden Lee (5-10, 245, Sr.) at guard.

DEFENSE

Defensive coordinator Sam Hale has nine starters back this season, including linebacker Trevor McKnight (6-0, 190, Sr.). McKinght is a leader on this football team and his play sets the tone. Another returning starter at linebacker is Michael Ramsay (6-0, 195, Sr.). These guys are big, solid backers with bad intentions. Add Adrian Becker (6-0, 190, So.) and Isaac Pool (5-11, 171, Sr.) to the mix and you may be looking at the best linebacker corps in the class. The secondary doesn’t miss a beat with returning starter Gavin Perry (6-3, 178, Jr.) at safety and Ty Clemens (5-11, 168, Sr.) at one of the corner spots. “I am very excited about the upcoming season,” O’Steen said. “Our players have worked very hard this offseason to get bigger, faster and stronger. I can’t wait to see their hard work pay off.”
