OFFENSE

Taking over the Rush Springs football program this season is Mason Anthony. He he’s brought along two outstanding coordinators in Wakley Bergner (offense) and Seth Tinsley (defense). Bergner will have eight returning starters with experience and leading the way is senior Caleb Heston (6-0, 180). The fullback is a strong runner and excellent blocker. Quarterback Joey Ward (5-6, 140) takes over under center adding a run/pass element to the offensive attack. Running back Kade Worden (5-7, 155, Jr.) is the benefactor of a solid offensive line. Worden will have many opportunities to make a difference this season. Ryan Mason (6-1, 200, Sr.) alongside Luke Scott (5-10, 235, Jr.) and Hayden Scott (5-10, 250, Jr.) form what could be the strength of the offense for the Redskins this season. Look for coach Anthony to expect his guys to play fast and physical.

DEFENSE

With six returning starters to the defensive side of the ball, the Redskins are learning a new system under coach Tinsley. Jacob Duke (5-9, 170, Sr.) starts at linebacker giving the Redskins an impact player in the middle. Heston will join Duke at the linebacker spot, along with Worden. All three players play tough against the run. Malachi Phipps (5-8, 150, Sr.) will start in the secondary with Ward. Phipps has good speed and plays the ball. Mason will go both ways on the line. Mason can move around the front in the multiple sets the defense will utilize this season.

“Taking over the program at Rush Springs is not something I take lightly. This is a program with a rich tradition that we will continue to build on. We’ve assembled an outstanding coaching staff that’s hungry, and brings a fire to work, while our kids are tough and work to get better each day. After a great spring, we look forward to the 2019 campaign,” said coach Anthony.
