Altus’ Jerzey Ybarra – Character Counts Presented by Jackson County Memorial Hospital

A two-sport athlete at Altus High School, Jerzey Ybarra is taking the field for the Lady Bulldogs in fastpitch softball for the final time this season. The senior can play both corners of the infield and is a consistent hitter at the plate. A softball player since the age of four, Ybarra has grown up on the diamond.

“The expectations are high this year. We have eight returning starters that can compete at a high level,” said Ybarra.

Her passion for the game is a big reason fans of the team love to watch her play. But Ybarra also has a passion for her team and teammates.

“What I love about my team is the fun and energy we have on and off the field. I like the grind we put into practice to reach the same goal,” said Ybarra.

Also a post player on the basketball team, Ybarra brings a level of toughness and determination to both sports any coach would love to have on their squad. Her plan is to continue playing softball into college.

“My plan is to play softball at college level where I will also pursue a degree in sports medicine,” said Ybarra.

Outside of sports, Ybarra is involved in other activities at school including Link Crew and the Blue Crew.  Her school spirit shows through whether she’s on the field or court competing or she’s in the bleachers cheering on her schoolmates.

“I love the Bulldog pride and school spirit. We all come together as one. Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog!”
