Duncan Demons – Cheer Spotlight Presented by Arvest Bank

One thing that most cheerleaders and coaches can agree on one thing. While they enjoy cheering and supporting their school’s teams, the squad becomes more like a family. Always there supporting and being there for each other.

Duncan High School cheer coach, KC McGuire, says that her squad always has each other’s back and she would not expect anything less.  “Our team’s greatest strength is the leadership they have,” she said. “They also have a great ‘no one gets left behind’ attitude. Each week at practice, we focus on an area to work on and none of them are willing to quit on themselves or each other.”

Team member Karlee Elam says that she enjoys seeing the progress the team makes and also how they help spread school spirit.  “I love being able to see our team continuously grow and get better,” she said. “I also love how involved our crowds are during the games.”

McGuire, who is in her fifth season as the Lady Demons cheer coach, says that besides cheering, her team also enjoys hanging out together at other times also.  “Every couple of weeks, we pick a place to go as a team during our practice time to get us out of the gym and just spend some time together.”

Being a part of such a great squad and representing their school is something that team member Kenzie Miller enjoys about cheering.  “Something I like about our team is that they are so supportive and ready to put in the work to get better,” she said. “I also love being able to lead the crowd to support our school at different sporting events.”

Having a good time makes their time together enjoyable, says Elam.  “I like that our team is really close and I enjoy how we work well together,” she said. “It never fails that we laugh and smile when our team is together.”
