Ninnekah’s Jayah Rodriguez – Softball Spotlight Presented by Harley-Davidson World

Success is not something that an athlete is just handed one day. It is earned on the field and,  more importantly, in practice and preparation. Jayah Rodriguez says that work and support are key components to being successful.

“It has taken a lot of time, dedication, motivating teammates, supportive family, and some very amazing coaches for me to be where I am today.”

Rodriguez is a junior at Ninnekah High School. She plays shortstop and centerfield for the softball team. She also is a member of the Lady Owls’ basketball and track teams. While she has a lot of support, Jayah has had a few people that have made big impacts on her life in different ways. “My sister Kaylee has a heart and passion for the game that is very admirable,” she said.

“She is constantly challenging me to be the best at everything I do. Brianna Turang has also been my role model from a very young age because she is an outstanding all around player. My grandmother, Laurel Robinson is such a hard worker and has taught me countless life lessons.”

The highlight moment for Jayah was when she made the All-Conference team during her sophomore year.

“I was excited to win the honor,” she said. “I was also glad I had the opportunity to play one more time with the four graduating seniors, including my sister.”
