Weatherford’s Addy Hoffman: Weatherford Spotlight Presented by BancFirst

Weatherford High School basketball player Addy Hoffman started playing the game at a very young age. “I have played basketball since I was old enough to play against my siblings in our barn with the song “Jump” by Van Halen playing in the background,” said Hoffman.

Those barn sessions and the 80s rock music were the foundation that allowed Hoffman to developed into an excellent varsity player. “After I graduate, I would love to reach one of my goals since I young and that is to continue my basketball career at a Division I level,” said Hoffman.

Being from Weatherford and playing with this group of girls is a dream come true for Hoffman. The closeness they share and their passion for the game is fun to watch. “I love my team. They are all family to me and that is what I love about them. We all show up as one and fight together as one,” said Hoffman. “This upcoming season, I expect to get better every day as a team and as an individual athlete.”

On or off the court, Hoffman exudes good sportsmanship and character. It is an important quality Hoffman doesn’t brag about, but leads with as an example to her peers. “A person with character stands out. One is accountable, responsible, and discipline. A person of great character walks with humble footsteps, acts with selfless ambition, and speaks honestly,” said Hoffman. “Sportsmanship paints the picture of your character. Bad sportsmanship always comes with bad attitudes. Bad attitudes are contagious and can spread a deadly virus among a team. Good sportsmanship is an important ingredient in the recipe of success.”

In her free time, Hoffman enjoys spending time with family, playing a pick-up game and helping her dad at the farm. “Being a student-athlete in Weatherford, Oklahoma is of great value to me because the staff, school, and community support and care for, not only the student-athletes, but the student body as a whole,” said Hoffman.
