Weatherford’s BJ Ransome: Weatherford Spotlight Presented by BancFirst

Bj Ransome is a varsity basketball player at Weatherford High School and one of the top players in his class. The senior comes in at 6-foot-3 making him a tough matchup for smaller guards. Ransome returns to the court this season as the leading scorer for the Eagles.

His journey to become a varsity basketball player started at the young age of five. The young Ransome knew basketball was the sport for him.

As a student-athlete at Weatherford High School, Ransome has grown into a remarkable player and young man. “To me having character means always having integrity,” said Ransome. “Be a leader, not a follower.”

On the court, showing good sportsmanship is important to Ransome. Like his teammates, Ransome plays the game the right way. “It’s very important to have good sportsmanship, it shows that you have respect and enthusiasm for the love of the game,” said Ransome.

This season the team looks like they could be a contender with several top returning players from last season back. “I love the chemistry we have. I feel like we’ve bonded well as a group,” said Ransome. “My expectations are to play well as team and make it to the championship game.”

Like many other student-athletes at Weatherford, Ransome points to the support the team gets from the school and the community as a motivating factor for him and his teammates. “Weatherford is a great place to play because of the love and support that the community has been giving to me,” said Ransome.

The future for this outstanding player will probably consist of the college classroom and the college court. Ransome is eager to play at the next level.
