Altus’ Brianna McQuiggan – Character Counts Presented by Bar-S Foods

By Ember McElrath

Altus High School Junior Brianna McQuiggan plays the positions of shooting guard and post for her school’s basketball team. She started getting involved with the sport around the ages of five or six when she first played for her city’s league. Being a basketball player for most of her life Brianna’s love and passion for the game has only increased over the years, but her favorite part of being part of it all is Brianna says is “the family bond with the team.” The motivation she has for the game has also only grown over the past several years and she said that is all in part due to her father.

Brianna is also involved in softball for Atlus High School the other part of the school year. How she manages to balance her school load with her other activities is to have a schedule.

“Go to school then to sports then home to do homework,” Brianna says is how she gets it all done.

This basketball season Brianna is looking forward to working “as a team and getting the job done.” As for school this year she is going to do her best everyday to pass her classes and keep herself plenty busy and out of trouble.

The most valuable lesson that Brianna has learned through basketball is all about dealing with challenges.

“How to deal with adversity, even when it’s not easy,” Brianna said was the best lesson she has learned thus far.
