Altus’ Cabe Dickerson: Character Counts Presented By JCMH Orthopedic Clinic

The Altus Character Counts Honor goes to Cabe Dickerson, a senior wrestler for the bulldogs. Dickerson is a three-time State finalist and is also a three-time All-American. As a junior he placed sixth at nationals in Greco and eighth in freestyle. His performance has earned him a scholarship to Oklahoma.

“Just the coaches and the atmosphere at OU is great and I think their coaches will help me reach my full potential. They’ve coached 21 Olympic wrestlers and the head coach has coached the Olympic team,” said Dickerson.

Cabe is off to a great start this season with a record of 24-2 at 220 pounds wrestling at 195 after wrestling at 195 pound the previous three seasons. He has also helped lead Altus to birth at dual state.

“My goals are to win State and then over the summer I want to win nationals,” said Dickerson, “I just need to work hard and do whatever it takes, just do my best in practice, take my shots and get better on top.”

Cabe also plays football for Altus and is a middle linebacker and fullback. He also throws shotput for the Bulldogs track team.

Dickerson performs in the classroom as well with a 3.6 GPA. He is involved in Link Crew at Altus, a club that welcomes freshmen and gets them involved. He plans to major in business at OU and wants to attend medical school and be a plastic surgeon.

“To me character is just hard work, making sure that you do what’s right and just doing the best that you can do,” said Dickerson.
