Clinton’s Carmella Jefferson – Character Counts Presented By K&S Tire, Inc

The Clinton Character Counts honor goes to Carmella Jefferson, a sophomore basketball player for the lady reds. Jefferson is the starting point guard for Clinton and has played well this season averaging 16 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals per game. She has also shot 42 percent from the field and 31 percent from three. “I just try to do my best to make the right plays and get my teammates the ball in good spots when they’re open,” said Jefferson.

As the point guard Jefferson also has the important role of being a leader for Clinton. “I just try to be positive and vocal with teammates,” said Jefferson, “and I do my best to help them when they need help with something.”

With a young roster Clinton has struggled at times this season, but Jefferson says the team is still optimistic for the rest of the season. “Our goal is to continue to get better and keep playing well,” said Jefferson, we hope that we can get to the next level and try to make a run during the playoffs.”
Outside of basketball Jefferson is a standout student with a 3.5 GPA. “Character to me is going out of your comfort zone and just giving 100 percent at everything you do whether that’s in basketball, school or life. Just trying to be a good person and making sure that you are on top of everything,” said Jefferson.
