Weatherford’s Summer Bass – Character Counts Presented By BancFirst Weatherford

Weatherford senior, Summer Bass, is the recent recipient of the Character Counts Award. “I am very honored to receive the Weatherford Character Counts Award. I’ve worked extremely hard to get to where I am today, and it’s an honor to be recognized for not only athletic and educational accomplishments, but also for living as a person with integrity,” said Summer.
Not only does Summer compete for the school’s soccer team as a forward and center-midfielder, she also competed for the varsity fast-pitch softball team all four years of high school, as well as indoor soccer leagues for the city. Church is a big part of her life as a member of the First Baptist Church of Weatherford. Grades and community service projects also keep this senior busy as a member of her school’s NHS program and leadership club.
Giving back and the youth are important to Summer. She will soon be coaching a U6 recreational soccer team for young girls. This will not be Summer’s first time coaching as she has been part of coaching the annual Route 66 soccer camps that are held in Weatherford.
Summer is a self motivated student and person. “I’ve always been a self-driven person, who rarely needs to be pushed to work hard in my school or sports. My motivation is to be one of the best in everything I participate in,” said Summer.
After high school Summer plans to continue her athletic career at Southwestern Oklahoma State University on a soccer scholarship all while working hard toward earning a degree in nursing.
